Description
Medical Records Reviewer, who is independent, self-motivated and highly organized, to assist in coordinating independent medical examinations, consultations and literature/research reviews. Individual focus on organizing the medical records, summarize findings and prepare reports. Candidate will screen cases for merit and assist with discovery. Identify standards of care.
Requirements
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Analyze and create organization of medical records by tabulation and indexing of records
Summarize by dictating or typing the medical records in detail using KTA templates and guidelines to ensure client deadlines are met
Perform literature searches using databases, textbooks and articles in regard to litigation. Specifically, articles from toxic tort litigation, infectious diseases and musculoskeletal as it relates to auto accidents, product liability and musculoskeletal accidents.
Utilize CWRU and other medical and legal libraries
Utilize and familiarize self with toxicology literature
Seek and continuously develop knowledge and information about current regulations and trends by research and investigation of information to enable appropriate reporting
Communicate and liaise with medical experts at various health systems and clients as directed in the course of an assignment
Network and liaise with attorneys, insurance companies and other organizations in which firm specializes
Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles
Manage language and communications translation issues and activates as necessary to enable effective relations
Other duties and core competencies as assigned, commensurate with experience and skill level
Must be a team player, be able to take constructive criticism and handle irascible personalities
Qualifications:
Allied health or paralegal degree required
Firm grasp of legal and medical terminology
Ability to summarize and write professionally
Critical thinking skills to develop case theories
Solid research and writing skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Products
Highly detail oriented and organized
Preferred:
RN, BSN
Background in certification utilization review and chart review experience
Case management and claims management experience
Knowledge of worker compensation regulation, rules, dispute resolution and MCO systems
Knowledge and experience in personal injury litigation
Legal/paralegal experience
