Description

Under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel, Investments or Associate General Counsel, Investments, assist with providing legal support to the Executive Director and the various departments of the State Teachers Retirement System Ohio (STRS Ohio), with a focus on the legal needs of the investment department.

 Summary of Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and counsel to STRS Ohio management and investments staff, with a focus on alternative investments.
Draft, review and negotiate investment contracts and other legal documents.
Assist the Deputy General Counsel, Investments and Associate General Counsel, Investments in providing oversight and assistance to special counsel appointed to STRS Ohio by the Attorney General’s Office.

Requirements

Summary of Qualifications:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required.
An active Ohio law license in good standing or ability to obtain a Certificate to Practice Law Pending Admission in Ohio required. 
Minimum of three years of relevant legal experience required, with at least one year of securities or corporate transactional experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred.
Experience in public pensions and/or investments including private equity and private credit fund investments, equity and debt co-investments and/or direct equity and debt investments preferred.
