Description
Castagna Scott PLLC is a litigation firm concentrating in insurance defense and trucking defense in Texas courts. We are seeking an experienced attorney for a research-focused role supporting our active litigation docket.
Position Overview
You will be responsible for legal research, brief and motion drafting, and case analysis across the firm's insurance and trucking defense matters. You will support trial attorneys by developing legal arguments, analyzing procedural questions, and producing polished written work product. The position is well suited to an attorney who prefers substantive research and writing over front-line courtroom appearances.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on liability, procedural, and evidentiary issues in defense litigation.
- Draft motions, briefs, responses, and legal memoranda.
- Analyze case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to insurance and trucking defense.
- Support dispositive motion practice, including summary judgment and procedural motions.
- Assist with appellate research and briefing as needed.
- Track developments in Texas litigation, insurance, and transportation law.
Requirements
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Five or more years of litigation experience preferred.
- Strong legal research skills, including proficiency with Westlaw or Lexis.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive legal documents.
- Experience with Texas and Federal civil procedure and practice.
- Ability to manage multiple research assignments and meet filing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in insurance defense, trucking defense, or personal injury litigation.
- Familiarity with dispositive and procedural motion practice in Texas and Federal courts.
